Complete the sentences with the correct form of the words in parenthesis.

Function:

Comparatives are used to compare two things or two people = She is taller than her brother.                              It´s more beautiful than the white house.

Comparatives use the word "than"

Form: 

To form comparatives you need to know the number of syllables in the adjective. (syllables are like "sound beats")

1) One syllable adjective ending in a silent "e" = nice-nicer

2) One syllable adjective ending in one vowel and one consonant = big-bigger

3) One syllable adjective ending in more than one consonant or more than one vowel = cheap-cheaper

4) A two syllable adjective ending in "y" = happy-happier

5) Two syllable or more adjectives without "y" at the end = exciting-more exciting

bad - worse

good - better

far - farther

little - less

many - more

much - more
