1. Explanation:
We use there is for singular and there are for plural.
EXAMPLES:
- There is a zoo in my city
- There are many people at the supermarket.
2. Negative forms:
- There's not
- There are not
3. Questions:
To form a question we place is / are in front of there.
For example:
- Is there a security guard in the supermarket? - No, there isn't.
- Are there any trees in the park? - Yes, there are.
4. Practice:
Complete the sentences with there is or there are and a,an,some. (don´t use contractions)
E.g.
There is a bookstore in the corner.
There are some stores downtown.
